EVERY FAMILY

We commit to

Wise Owl Trust was founded with the clear vision of teaching Primary pupils from some of the most deprived areas of Manchester, if not the UK, to tackle the tests of life, not just a life of tests. Our mission has always been clear; remove barriers, raise aspirations and build futures for all.

So far that has been a resounding success. A deep understanding of the needs of our context and responding to those diverse challenges means that where once our pupils were being held back by decades of educational disadvantage, Wise Owl is making a real difference to their life chances and future prospects.

It is no longer enough for us to simply focus our attention on pupils in school if we are going to succeed in our wider Wise Owl mission of raising aspirations not just for our children but for our entire communities. Our pupils do not exist in a vacuum; what happens at home and on the streets where they live has a profound impact on their learning. However hard we work in school, it is increasingly clear that we need to extend our impact beyond the playground walls, across all age groups, from pupils to parents, cradle to career, if we are truly going to bring about meaningful change in the long-term.

We at Wise Owl believe we have a duty to act now, act fast and decisively to safeguard the futures of all children in our localities.

Building Forward Together is our answer to that call; a project to help improve the entire ecosystem supporting our children and their families in the wider community. By extending our reach to work with parents, businesses, charities and other agencies we believe we are offering opportunities, prospects and support throughout our community to provide a better quality of life and aspirations for all. Crucially, extending our expertise to help children not just from birth but even before.

We have always prided ourselves on being one of the most innovative and progressive Trusts in the country. Now is the time to seal that reputation by pushing the boundaries of what a primary Trust can achieve.

Building Forward Together is Wise Owl Trust’s vision for a united, collaborative post-COVID response, to lead recovery and change, enabling all generations across our communities to build back better, thrive and prosper together.

It involves radical and creative thinking, guided by the latest scientific research. It redefines what we think of as early years education by offering services to parents that improve pupils’ overall quality of life.

A HOLISTIC APPROACH,
knowing that working on one factor will inevitably have impact on others, as they are highly interconnected and reinforce each other in many ways.

WORK COLLABORATIVELY WITH FAMILIES, COMMUNITY AND AGENCIES
to create a healthy ecosystem of support for the child and wider family.

Did you know…

That during the first few years of a child’s life, their brain forms the fastest and by the age of 5, the brain is 90% developed.

Children who by the age of three have developed strong self-control, are less likely to develop health problems or be convicted of a criminal offence, and are more likely to be financially secure as adults.
